In January 2006, the Japanese design magazine Idea devoted 132 pages of
issue #314 to publishing a graphic history of Emigre magazine
commemorating the publication of Emigre's final issue in 2005.
Compiled and edited by the editors of Idea magazine and designed by
Tokyo-based Shirai Design Studio, this special edition includes
introductions (English & Japanese) by Kenneth FitzGerald and David
Cabianca, an interview with Rudy VanderLans (English & Japanese), and a
selection of 5 essays culled from past issues of Emigre (Japanese
only). Also featured is a reprint of Zuzana Licko's first interview
(English & Japanese), originally published in Emigre #15 in 1990.
Now, Emigre has made available a limited edition, case bound version of
this 132-page section, which features over 158 reproductions of Emigre
covers and layouts, plus an insert with various excerpts from Emigre's
type specimens.
132 pages, 9.125 x 12 inches, 158 full color reproductions, cloth
cover, sewn and case bound.
Limited edition of 50 numbered copies.
